Tired of Shaving? Don't have the time? Are you suffering from skin irritations caused by shaving? Perhaps it is time to try waxing! Head to Toe Body waxing for all genders, all inclusive ~ Female, Male, Non-Binary, Gender Fluid, Gender Neutral, among all others.
Waxing benefits:
- Hair is pulled from root so it lasts longer than shaving
- Fast and convenient
- Smooth and even skin
- No cuts or nicks
- Slow and finer hair re-growth
- Gentle exfoliation
- Skin is less susceptible to irritations
Pre-waxing Tips:
- Allow 2-3 weeks of hair growth for removal (the longer the better). If hair is closer to ½” long, there will be less tweezing and more effective hair removal from the wax.
- Allow time before an event. I advise waxing a new area twice before a big event because we can not always predict how your skin will react.
- Take acetaminophen or ibuprofen prior to your appointment to help alleviate some pain.
- Limit caffeine and acidic food/drink intake on the day of waxing. Caffeine increases sensitivity by stimulating the nervous system and acidic foods/drink enhances redness. Taking an antacid prior to appointment assists in reducing redness.
- Inform me of any skin conditions, allergies, medications such as Retin-A© (acne/anti-aging medicine), Accutane© (acne medication), or any other medications that may cause excessive skin sensitivities. Also if you are using any age defying moisturizers, products containing Retinol, or have received any botox or dermabrasion treatments, please let me know on the intake form.
- Please be aware that just prior to and during menstruation, sensitivity increases and because of water retention and your own personal comfort, at that time you may want to avoid hair removal. But just know it is totally ok and safe to wax during these times and I am 100% comfortable with it.
- Relax! Tensing up causes your follicles to resist. Remember to be mindful of your breath.
Post-waxing Tips:
DO’s:
- After 24-48 hour, use a loofah with every shower to avoid in-grown hairs by removing the top layer of skin in the waxed area. Continue to loofah through the next wax treatment. Soft, circular, upward motions.
- After 24-48 hours, you may use salicylic acid pads/anti-acne lotion for waxed areas following the treatment to assist with breakouts. If needed, professional products can be recommended to you as well.
- Ok to take a cool shower or use a cool compress within 24 hours.
DON’T’s:
- Do Not apply heat to the waxed area for 24 hours.
- Do Not submerge in any water for 24 hours. NO swimming pools, hot tubs, baths, etc.
- Do Not touch freshly-waxed skin for 24 hours, as hands carry bacteria.
- Do Not have sex for 24 hours. (Brazilian, Manzilian, and Bikini)
- Do Not sweat for 24 hours. NO hot yoga, running, workout, etc.
- Do Not wear tight clothing for 24 hours.
- Do Not expose the skin to sun or tanning beds for 24 hours prior to and after waxing.
- Do Not apply SPF, self-tanning products,or tan accelerators to the waxed area for 24 hours. Sunscreen chemicals can be irritating to the newly waxed skin.
- Do Not apply fragranced products to the waxed area for 24 hours. This includes perfume, deodorants, anti-perspirants, cosmetics, scented body lotions, feminine hygiene sprays, etc.
- Do Not use harsh abrasives or exfoliants in the waxed area.
- Do Not shave between wax sessions. Makes hair more resistant to future waxings.
- In short… no fun stuff for 24 hours!
Any redness/irritation should subside within the day of the waxing treatment but up to 72 hours is normal. For best results, repeat your professional waxing every 4-6 weeks depending on the area and your individual hair growth rate.
